What is Iron Front?
Iron Front is an alternate-history, turn-based hex strategy game by Radim Pavlík (radasgames). It's autumn 1938 and you command Czechoslovak forces defending the border; your task is to take back the border towns before time runs out. Each turn is one day. The game is an early prototype, playable in English, Czech and German, with narration in Czech and German.
Iron Front controls
Click a unit, then click a blue hex to move or a red target to attack. Hovering over a target shows a damage preview first. Tab or N jumps to the next ready unit, Space makes a unit wait, and Enter ends the turn (press it twice if some units haven't acted yet). Esc cancels and the arrow keys pan the map.
Key mechanics
Fog of war hides the enemy, and being caught in an ambush costs you. Artillery can support attacks twice per turn. Units gain veterancy up to five stars, so keeping experienced units alive matters. Air strikes need supplies and clear weather – bad weather grounds them. Missions are played from a campaign map.
Strategy tips
Scout before you advance so you don't walk into an ambush in the fog. Always check the damage preview before committing an attack, and soften strong positions with artillery first. Pull damaged veteran units back rather than losing their stars. Watch the weather before planning around air support, and keep an eye on the day count – the objective is time-limited.
