What is The Fisher Cat?
The Fisher Cat is a short, free slice-of-life adventure by LowSpoons, released on itch.io in October 2026. You wake up inside a cardboard box in an alley as a stray cat, and your goal is simple: explore the town and find breakfast. It's a Twine game with around 60 passages and two endings, one good and one bad, with a Japanese theme and 8-bit-style pictures. It was the developer's first Twine game, made after their 8-year-old asked for a "Japanese cat game" and then wrote about half of the story. No generative AI was used: the images are clipart run through a non-AI 8-bit filter, and the sound effects come from freesound.org.
How to play The Fisher Cat
Press the play button above, then "Run game" on itch.io. Like other Twine games, it's played by reading each passage and clicking the highlighted links to choose where the cat goes or what it does. There's no keyboard control to learn and no timer. Explore the alley and the town, follow the leads that look like food, and see which ending you reach.
Hint: if you get stuck
The developer's own hint: visit Maneki in the park if you ever feel stuck. Since there's one good ending and one bad ending, it's worth playing through a second time and taking different choices if your first breakfast hunt goes wrong.
Who it's for
It's a cozy, short game, ideal for a few minutes' break, for kids reading with a parent, or for anyone curious about Twine. With roughly 60 passages, one playthrough is quick, and finding both endings doesn't take long.
